Smart Mini Factory

Am Mittwoch 27. November besuchte eine Gruppe Oberschüler aus der Vorlesung zu „Innovationsorientierte Betriebsführung im Industriebetrieb“ mit Prof. Dominik Matt das Smart Mini Factory Labor für Industrie 4.0. Nach einer theoretischen Einführung in Industrie 4.0 stellten die Forscher des Labors verschiedene Demonstratoren zu Robotik, kollaborativer Robotik, Assistenzsystemen sowie zu Machine Learning in der Produktion vor.

Bangkok November 21, 2019: The members of the UNIBZ team Luca Gualtieri and Dr. Rafael Rojas meet the researchers and the director of the “Design and Engineering” unit, Dr. Nirut Naksuk, at the MTEC national research centre in Thailand (www.mtec.or.th). The unit is an important hub for local technology transfer, linking the world of research to the needs of industries. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the issues related to applied research in industrial robotics, discussing possible future collaborations.

Am Donnerstag, den 8. November fand der Industry Day an der Freien Universität Bozen statt. Dieser verbindet Industrie und Forschung und präsentiert die Universität als möglichen Partner für Südtiroler Unternehmen. Forscher berichteten dort über laufende und abgeschlossene Forschungsarbeiten, oftmals auch in Zusammenarbeit mit Unternehmen. Ein reger Austausch von innovativen Ideen und Visionen fand statt. Mitarbieter der Smart Mini Factory beantworteten dort zahlreiche Fragen aus dem Bereich der Industrie 4.0.

On Tuesday October 22, 2019 the WPI Robotics Engineering 10-Year Anniversary Research Symposium took place with keynote talks by some of the most distinguished robotics researchers from the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as members of signature robotics industry. In the end of the symposium, the company Boston Dynamics presented its revised model of the “Spot”. Benedikt Mark, member of the SMF team, took place at this event.

Am Donnerstag, den 24. Oktober hatten Schüler der örtlichen Bildungseinrichtungen die Möglichkeit an einem Workshop in der Smart Mini Factory teilzunehmen. Die Schüler konnten eine Vielzahl der Industrie 4.0 Technologien nicht nur theoretisch, sondern auch praktisch im Lernfabriklabor für Industrie 4.0 der Freien Universität Bozen kennenlernen.

Am 10. Oktober hat eine Gruppe von Handwerkern der Berufsgruppe „Maschinenbaumechaniker und Werkzeugmacher“ das Smart Mini Factory Labor besucht. In einer ersten Einführung von Dr. Erwin Rauch erhielten die Teilnehmer einen Überblick über Industrie 4.0 und dessen Entwicklung von der Vergangenheit über die Gegenwart bis hin zu Trends in der Zukunft. In einer anschließenden Führung mit praktischen Demonstrationen zur kollaborativen Robotik, Virtual Reality sowie Hilfssystemen wie einem passiven Exoskeleton konnten die zuvor kennengelernten Inhalte praktisch vertieft und diskutiert werden.

On October 3rd 2019 the project partners from Italy and Austria met for a coordination meeting. The meeting was hosted by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. The meeting was followed by a guided tour through the Smart Mini Factory lab for Industry 4.0. Within the project the partners are already preparing the first trans-border training sessions in Industry 4.0 topics for students, teacher and companies. Am 02 Oktober hat eine Delegation der Gruppe der Kleinunternehmer die Smart Mini Factory besucht. Nach einer allgemeinen Einführung in das Thema Industrie 4.0 und Digitalisierung konnten die Unternehmer sich einen Überblick über verschiedene Technologien und Forschungsprojekte im Labor machen.

Venerdì 27 settembre si è svolta la Lunga Notte della Ricerca (LUNA). La Smart Mini Factory ha aperto le sue porte a tutti coloro che sono interessati alla tecnologia per questo evento. In diverse stazioni, i partecipanti hanno potuto conoscere le nuove tecnologie e provarle da soli.

Following the invitation of Prof. Sarkis and Prof. Zhu from the Foisie Business School of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Dr. Erwin Rauch from the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano gave a lecture at the PhD Seminar on “Industry 4.0 and the way towards smart and digital factories of the future”.
