On Friday, February 22, 2019, the opening event of the Interreg Italia-Austria project „Engineering Education 4.0“ took place at the headquarter of the Free University of Bolzano. The project aims at the implementation of Industry 4.0 processes in local businesses by providing the necessary qualification of skilled workers through innovative offerings in the field of education and training. Teachers, university students, school students, as well as skilled workers from industry and trade must in the future master and be trained in new Industry 4.0 technologies. Therefore, the project partners are creating an online platform on which the respective stakeholders in the field of education and training can register their offer for Industry 4.0. Although there are already individual offers for training on Industry 4.0 in South Tyrol, it is difficult for companies to get an overview of this offer. This is where the online platform should remedy and make it easier for stakeholders to find training offers on Industry 4.0 topics and technologies. Over the coming months, the project team will raise the requirements for new and innovative continuing education programs around Industry 4.0 through workshops with stakeholders and interest groups, and then design and implement appropriate training programs.
After the project presentation in front of the stakeholders and companies, the attendees were invited to visit the Smart Mini Factory to familiarize themselves with current continuing education activities in the laboratory and existing laboratory equipment.
The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Interreg V-A Italy-Austria 2014-2020.
